Zentveld’s Coffee thanks to your hard work and perseverance that I have a choice! It seems no one reads labels anymore. I’m lucky enough to be sensitive to chemicals so that’s why I was so happy to discover your coffee … keep on keeping on please

Dear Rebecca, John and crew,
Recently you sent us a note with our coffee order justifying a price rise on locally sourced coffee. You don’t need to justify this superb product. Over 20 years ago we first tried your coffee in a small Byron Bay cafe. It was the best coffee we’ve ever tasted and it still is the best coffee we’ve ever tasted. We buy this coffee because it is the best, not because it’s cheap. By the way, we’ve done considerable world travel in those last 20 odd years and we still consider your coffee the best we’ve ever tasted and we’ll keep buying it as long as we can afford it. Thank you,

Zentvelds is the tastiest coffee, I first tried it in Albany Western Australia and it is lovely. Doesn’t leave a bitter taste in your mouth at all.

I regularly call in to purchase coffee for my espresso machine in a quantity and grind that is unavailable in retail outlets. This is effectively a “cellar door” with products not available elsewhere and technical advice on hand.

Excellent coffee and coffee related products. All of it locally grown and sourced. So hard to find coffee that is 100% Australian.

Australias rich coffee tradition was unknown to us before this visit. Zentvelds was recommended by ghe owners of Earth n Sea in Byron Bay as its their source for coffee. We bought a big bag of the Byron bay mix back to the UK, still tastes as good.

Byron Bay area produces great coffee and has many small/independent producers and roasters. I had always wanted to visit a coffee plantation to see where the beans are grown. However, most of them are not open to visits. Was excited to learn that Zentveld has opened a roastery shop front at their plantation and popped in for a quick visit.
Saw the coffee plants on the hillside, with many reddish orange berries. Apparently we were a few weeks away from harvest.
We arrived just before closing time, but was still met with a warm welcome by the staff. She showed us the fresh coffee berries and explained how the beans would be prepared for roasting. Learnt a fun fact – each coffee fruit berries usually contain 2 seeds but sometimes there’s only one round seed ( called a “pea berry”) and these are typically reserved for making chocolate coated coffee beans because their roundness makes for easier coating.
We were recommended the Ernesto blend as we usually take our coffee with milk. I bought a bag of the 30 Mile Blend (consisting of beans within a 30 mile radius) to bring home a taste of the region. $13 for the 250g, great value!
Next time, I’ll plan my visit to coincide with the barista training courses that Zentveld’s runs, which includes a plantation tour.
The location of the plantation is a short (10 mins) drive south of Byron Bay town centre.
